Fix your Destructive Mindset to Grow in your Life and Career

There are 3 kinds of Destructive Mindsets:

  1. The Cynical Mindset
  2. The Escapist Mindset
  3. The Perfectionist Mindset

The Cynical Mindset : Lost all curiosity and ambition in life. We are in survival mode. Doomscrolling, Listening to Negative News.

The Escapist Mindset : Retail Therapy, Binge watching, Dream Vacation Planning. We are still curious but we have decided to let go of our ambitions.

The Perfectionist Mindset : We are escaping uncertainty through work. High in ambition. Low curiosity.

The Fix is an Experimental Mindset

Curiosity and Ambition should ideally both be High. We can then use this opportunity as an option to grow and learn. Using failures as data points to learn from.

Steps :

  1. Observing your current Situation by looking at the world around you.
  2. Then I ask a research question and we design a tiny experiment to collect data and analyse.
    Take Action + Duration i.e. take an action for a specific duration which means you have to design an experiment. Keep the experiment tiny enough to complete it.
  3. Make a pact to do the experiment and act on it. Make the pact actionable. is continuous. A pact is not a KPI , or a performance metric. It is about learning something new.
  4. Take this learning to design another experiment and keep moving forward.
